I Got Hit in a T.J. Maxx Parking Lot. What Do I Do?*

Car accidents and other vehicle related accidents are the most likely way you could end up getting hurt in the U.S. They account for more accidents than any others. It seems amazing, but you are more likely to get hit by another driver backing out of a car parking space in an ordinary parking lot than slipping over in the same lot!

Whatever the reason for the accident, if you are badly injured and it wasn’t your fault, you may have good grounds for legal action against the person at-fault.

Why Would a Parking Lot Be Prone to Crashes?

Like many well known and popular large stores, it attracts many customers and provides a large parking lot for them. While it isn’t directly responsible for customer behavior in its own parking lots, it can be simply a matter of time before a serious injury results because of negligent drivers failing to take care as they maneuver around the lot.

Crashes are Not Inevitable in a Parking Lot

The word ‘accident’ is not really appropriate, as most accidents are caused by negligence. In a car crash in a T.J. Maxx parking lot, or the parking of any established business, someone inevitably is at fault.

Injuries are most likely to happen when car drivers are not looking where they are going or are driving recklessly without regard for the safety of others. Injuries happen, for instance, when a driver backs out of a tight parking space and is making sure that he or she doesn’t scratch a neighboring car and doesn’t see a store customer walking behind.

It’s easy for an accident victim to suffer broken limbs and severe cuts and bruises if they are hit by a car driver who doesn’t see them.

Take Legal Action With the Help of an Experienced Attorney

It’s hard enough to cope with injuries that weren’t your fault, but taking legal action can be difficult unless you get help from an experienced personal injury attorney. State personal injury laws put the onus on the accident victim to prove who was at fault.

If you do suffer an accident wherever it takes place, such as a car crash in a T.J. Maxx parking lot, or the parking lot of any established business, you should try and ask any witnesses for their contact details if you are able to do so and make a note of anything that is relevant as it will prove invaluable later if you choose to take legal action against the at-fault driver.
